The Mercedes Benz 220 SE set a new standard for luxury when introduced in 1959. The series was the most luxurious model Mercedes Benz had to offer. Between the years of 1960 - 1965 there were about 17,000 coupe and convertibles built. In its final production stage (1965) the 220SEb had many developmental improvements from the beginning. The mechanical fuel injection, disc brakes and automatic transmission made it the most sophisticated car on the road.
