Chassis Number: 5 LVE 29

Beautifuly restored One-Off example!

This particular car was the only factory ordered all white Phantom V James Young Touring Limousine built The car is complete with copies of the original factory build sheets, work orders, manuals and books.

In the fall of 1959, Rolls-Royce introduced a new chassis fitted with their new V8 engine that would be suitable for fitting with bespoke coach work to satisfy a demand from a wealthy and discerning clientele. Unfortunately , by the time of the first deliveries, the number of the coach building companies had, by attrition, had dwindled to just two or three that had the ability and engineering know how to enable them to do justice to this magnificent new chassis. At the forefront of these surviving companies was James Young with their chief stylist A.F. McNeil who collectively rose to the occasion and created a design that became the epitome of style and elegance which was unchallenged in the period.

This car was built for a very successful Cleveland restaurant owner who specified several remarkable features for his new car. Firstly the order called for Touring Limousine coachwork without the center division to make it more suitable for the owner/driver. In addition a search of James Young records has failed to come up with a Phantom V such as this that was finished in Porcelain White with off-white upholstery. In addition, the factory buil sheets make reference to the fitting of a matching White steering wheel, and White gear shift quadrant. Other unusual accessories include the under dash cocktail cabinet, the foot activated French Marchall air horns. Together with an automatic head light dimmer.in total, a very special car which was delivered in New York in March 1966 Through the offices of a subsequent owner The car made a cameo appearance in the well-known movie "My Best Friend’s Wedding"
