1938 CITROEN TRACTION AVANT

1938 Citroen Traction Avant
ID Number: 412935
The Citroen Traction Avant or "Front Drive" in French was introduced in 1933 and lasted until 1957. This all new automobile featured many revolutionary break troughs. It was not the first front wheel drive car, but the first mass manufactured one. The body and chassis were of unit body construction and was made of all steel. This arc-welded unit was extremely lighter than most other cars of the time. The Traction Avant was capable of 62 mph and consumed only one gallon of fuel per twenty five mile traveled. These amazing cars, with their long production run of twenty four years, were considered by most as the most successful Citroen produced.
